LED Fog Light Bulbs Selection Guide

Series Recommendation

If you're looking for the brightest fog light bulb, the M6 Series LED bulb(9000LM/pair) is the ideal choice for a brightness upgrade, providing excellent ground lighting while also being versatile enough to be used as a headlight bulb replacement.

The I9 series is one of the most classic products in AUXITO fog lights, not only do they come in a full range of bulb sizes, but they are also available in white, yellow and blue colours, whether you want to enhance the lighting or personalize your vehicle, it is a good choice.

The M4 series LED bulbs feature an ultra-thin design with LED chips spaced about 0.08 inches apart on both sides for 360-degree illumination with no dark spots. The H8 bulb size adds a new switchback feature that lets you switch between white and gold colors.

The hottest-selling model - the B3F series- has a stable 6000LM/pair output and a compact size, which are the biggest advantages of the M4 series LED fog light bulb.

GF series LED fog light bulbs are designed for H3,880,881 bulbs. They are 1:1 size with OEM bulbs, which makes installation easy, plug-and-play without any modification.

Should fog lights be LED or halogen?

LEDs have less power consumption and often weigh less, and are compact compared to a halogen bulb. However, the point is, if you are upgrading the halogen to an LED, be sure to check that the plugs on these stock lights are designed for halogen lights and that they are the same LED plugs as stock before purchasing a replacement.

How to Choose Your Fog Lights?

Are you buying fog lights for the first time? Here are the factors to consider when making your selection:

  • Type of fog light plug. Most fog light plugs are only compatible with a few socket types. This is why it is so important to check the kind of socket in your vehicle before choosing a fog light.
  • Cooling features. Some fog lights get damaged when exposed to extreme heat. If you live in a hot region, you should get a fog light with cooling features.
  • Durability. No matter how cheap your fog lights are, you'll still find it frustrating to change the bulb at very short intervals. Do your research on the life expectancy of various fog lights before making your purchase.

Is it a good idea to upgrade your factory fog lights to LED fog light bulbs?

Yes, this is definitely the best upgrade. Not only do LED fog lights have a brighter light compared to halogen lights, but they will also give your vehicle a sleek and modern look. And they are definitely better than halogen lights in terms of performance and longevity, reducing the frequency of replacement due to fog light failure in the long run.

What color LED fog light bulbs do people prefer?

Fog lights come in two main color temperatures: 3,000K and 6,000K (or 6,500K) and these are preferred by everyone. Cool white fog lights match LED headlights for a more technological look and allow for more forward illumination. Yellow fog lights at 3,000K are more penetrating and are more likely to be preferred by drivers driving in fog, haze or snow.

Is it legal to replace factory fog light bulbs with LED bulbs?

Fog lights help enhance visibility in foggy or low-light conditions, and they are allowed on any vehicle with license plates registered with the DOT. Therefore street legal and not required for DOT/FMVSS108 compliance. To learn more about fog lights legal information please click on the blog "WHAT ARE THE FOG LIGHTS AND WHEN TO USE THEM?"

Will I have problems decoding flickering after installing these LED fog lights?

It won't. Our LED fog light bulbs are CANbus-ready compatible with 99% of vehicles and will not have decoding errors. If the fog lights have been in use for an extended period of time and are having flickering issues, they may be nearing the end of their useful life and you will need to replace them with new ones.

If there is condensation in the fog light housing, will it damage the LED fog light bulb I just replaced?

If the condensation is inside the fog light housing, there’s a high chance some sort of crack has developed on the fog light. Even a tiny crack can lead to condensation.

In this case, if the inspection reveals that the fog lamp housing has been damaged, the fog light housing can be replaced to prevent condensation erosion of the bulb, which can shorten the service life of our LED fog light bulbs, even though they are IP67 waterproof.

However, if there is no visible damage to the housing, please remove the LED bulb and dry the housing, then check the o-ring to see if it needs to be replaced due to loss of elasticity.

Do LED fog lights cause glare?

No, LED fog lights do not cause glare. LED fog lights are a little brighter than halogen lights but not too bright, and are specifically set up for rain and fog and to meet the lighting needs of drivers in all types of inclement weather with extremely low visibility. However, if you are driving with high beam headlights, then it's possible that the two sources of light can cause some annoying glares. Some cars have a feature where if you switch to fog light mode, you have to switch to low beam headlight mode. This is because drivers need to drive slowly in fog and the intensity of the lights should be sufficient for low-speed driving.

What is the difference between fog lights and driving lights?

Fog lights are generally used to illuminate the road surface in front a car in conditions of fog, rain, and snow. They cannot be used separately from the standard low beams. Just like the fog lights, the driving lights supplement the standard beams and are used to provide illumination forward of the vehicle.

Can LED fog lights replace headlights?

NO. Fog lights are designed to provide additional illumination in low visibility conditions, such as fog, snow, or heavy rain. Their sockets are designed to be positioned lower than a vehicle's headlights and have a wider, shorter beam pattern than headlights. Therefore, the low positioned and short-range distance fog lights will not provide you with as good a view as headlights. If you wish to improve forward lighting, you can order suitable LED headlight bulbs.

When should fog lights be used?

Just because there’s a fog doesn’t necessarily mean you need to turn on your fog lights right away. The Highway Code states that fog lights should only be used when visibility is affected by more than 100 meters. It’s good practice to avoid using fog lights when there are other drivers in front of you, so make sure you use them wisely for your own and other people’s safety.

For more information on the rules for using fog lights read the blog WHAT ARE THE FOG LIGHTS AND WHEN TO USE THEM?

Should you turn off fog lights for oncoming traffic?

Yes. Fog lights must be used like your high beams: turned off when within 500 feet of an oncoming vehicle and within 350 feet when following another vehicle. Forward-pointing fog lights must be white, amber, or yellow.
