Which is better, LED tail lights or halogen tail lights?

LED tail lights are far brighter, illuminate quicker, and last longer than comparable halogens; however, halogens are inexpensive and readily available.

As a guideline to put road safety first, LED tail lights offer enhanced illumination for the rear, and their rapid response time ensures that other drivers are promptly alerted to your braking or turning actions, thus promoting safer driving conditions. This is why LED taillights have become the preferred choice for most people looking to replace or upgrade their tail lights.

Can I drive with a broken tail light?

It is against the law to drive with a broken tail light. All cars are required to have two working tail lights. A taillight that is no longer working may not only get you a ticket, but it may also seriously affect traffic driving safety as other drivers will not be able to notice that your vehicle is braking or swerving in time from a damaged taillight, which could lead to a serious accident.

What tools might be needed to replace the tail light assembly?

Safety glasses
Screwdrivers
Ratchet, appropriate size sockets and wrenches

How to Remove Tail Light Assembly?

Step 1: Put on your safety glasses.
Step 2: Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Step 3: If necessary, remove the rear bumper cover or interior trim panel per the factory repair information.
Step 4: Once you have direct access to the tail light assembly, remove the bolts or screws holding it in place.
Step 5: Pull the tail light assembly out and away from the vehicle. (Kindly remind: there may still be retainer clips holding the assembly in place. You’ll need to carefully dislodge the assembly from the clips as you pull it toward you.)
Step 6: Disconnect the electrical connectors from the back of the assembly.
Step 7: Some replacement tail light assemblies will come with new bulbs. If yours does not, you will need to remove the old bulbs and sockets so they can be reused.

How to Install Tail Light Assembly?

Step 1: Compare the new tail light assembly to the old one to be sure that both are the same design.
Step 2: If the new taillight assembly does not include a light source such as a bulb or LED light, please reinstall the bulbs and sockets in the tail light assembly as needed.
Step 3: Reconnect the electrical connectors.
Step 4: Mount the tail light assembly in place. Be sure that it slides into any retainer clips affixed to the rear of the vehicle.
Step 5: Reinstall the tail light assembly mounting bolts or nuts and carefully tighten them down until they’re snug. Do not over tighten. If needed, you can consult the factory repair information and use a torque wrench to tighten the fasteners to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Step 6: Reinstall the rear bumper or interior trim panel as needed.
Step 7: Reconnect the negative battery cable.

When should I replace my tail light assembly?

There's no need to wait until your tail lights have completely failed before replacing them! When your tail lights have cracked housings and oxidized, it is extremely easy for moisture to get inside the tail light assembly and damage the lighting. We recommend that you replace them in time to prevent sudden failure on the road.

And when you want to upgrade your lighting, you can always purchase aftermarket taillights to improve your vehicle's rear lighting and beautify its appearance.

Should I replace both tail lights at the same time?

It is also wise to replace both headlamp capsules, as well as a brake light and taillight bulbs in pairs simultaneously, as both have the same age and deterioration. In all likelihood, the opposite lamp capsule has degenerated considerably and will burn out fairly soon, as well.
